The present invention relates to a bio-derived cholesteric liquid crystal, a capsule for sunblock containing the same, a composition for sunblock, and a manufacturing method thereof. According to the present invention, since the composition contains the bio-derived cholesteric liquid crystal as an effective component, the composition has excellent biostability as well as maintaining transparency, and selectively controls the reflected wavelength by additionally containing a chiral dopant. Since the composition is manufactured as a capsule, the present invention is capable of enhancing mechanical stability and maintaining a sunblock effect even after becoming a capsule, thereby overcoming problems about contact dermatitis, accumulation in a human body, and appearance, which exists with sunblock.
