The present invention relates to a device for generating a common database and a method thereof. The device for generating a common database and the method thereof are to effectively manage data used by multiple processes in a distribution operation system and a microgrid operation system. To achieve the purpose of the present invention, the device for generating a common database commonly used in the distribution operation system and the microgrid operation system includes: a database schema managing unit setting a first database schema in accordance with input information on a user; and a first data generating unit generating first data indicating basic information of a system to be stored in the first database, wherein the first data generating unit stores the first data in a first database generated in accordance with the first database schema. The first data generating unit generates a screen of a schematic diagram including a facility selection area and receives schematic diagram input data of the user, which is input through the screen of the schematic diagram. The first data generating unit also changes the schematic diagram input data into arrangement data in accordance with an arrangement rule and stores the arrangement data changed in accordance with the schematic diagram input data in the first database.
