Provided are a global positioning system (GPS) data compression method, a recovery method, and a GPS terminal device. The GPS data compression method includes the steps of: receiving coordinate values related to the source data of GPS information at a sampling rate in accordance with a communication environment for executing a communication operation with an external device in a predetermined band from the GPS terminal device mounted on a moving object; allocating the data capacity matched to the maximum value of the displacement in accordance with the difference between the coordinate values which can be generated on the moving object; calculating the displacement value between the coordinate values corresponding to the individual time intervals of the sampling rate; and generating displacement data by encoding the individual displacement values in accordance with the data capacity and storing the generated displacement data to the GPS terminal device.
