An apparatus and method is described comprising: receiving data relating to one or more event data, the event data relating to changes in a state of one or more inputs between inactive and active states, wherein the received data is in the form of a data word representing said event data wherein the data word describes the activation and inactivation of the inputs of the event data; and constructing a data structure in the form of a directed interval graph-directed acyclic graph based on the data word.
