PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cast iron member capable of enhancing abrasion resistance, and a surface treatment method of a cast iron member.;SOLUTION: A rocker arm 10 has a chill layer 15 on a slide contact surface 14 contacting with a valve bridge 33 in a slidable manner, and a soft nitrided layer 16 provided on the whole surface of the rocker arm 10. In order to perform surface treatment for the rocker arm 10 to form the chill layer 15 and the soft nitrided layer 16, firstly the slide contact surface 14 is partially subjected to remelting hardening treatment for chilling, to form the chill layer 15 (chilling step), and then with soft nitriding treatment, the soft nitrided layer 16 is formed on the whole surface of the rocker arm 10 (soft nitriding step).;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4;COPYRIGHT: (C)2019,JPO&INPIT
