To provide a flexible flat cable and an image reading apparatus, capable of high speed signal transmission with a reduced risk of the disconnection of a conductor (wiring) to improve durability, preventing the contamination of a transparent member on which a manuscript is loaded.SOLUTION: In a flexible flat cable 100, a bent part 101 is formed between a first member and a second member to connect them, and the formation position of the bent part 101 is moved accompanying the relative movement between the first member and the second member. The flexible flat cable 100 includes a first insulation film layer 110, a wiring layer 130, an intermediary layer 160, a shield layer 170 and a second insulation film layer 190 which are laminated in this order. The second insulation film layer 190 has a larger length in the width direction intersecting with the extension direction of the wiring 131 than the wiring layer 130, the intermediary layer 160 and the shield layer 170, so as to be arranged not to hinder the mutual relative movement in the extension direction of the wiring 131.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
