To provide a rail irregularities measuring method which can manage irregularities of a pair of left and right rail, keeping a synchronous correspondence between the irregularities measuring position and a distance measuring position along the rail.SOLUTION: A rail irregularities measuring method by which positions and shapes of the irregularities generated on top faces of a pair of left and right rails in a prescribed section are measured is provided. The method is characteristic of comprising a step to arrange each of two measuring units on each of a pair of left and right rails, a step to couple the unit each other, a step to move the unit along the rail by each wheel included in the unit and measure a distance of the movement, a step to measure shapes of the top face irregularities of the pair of left and right rails through measuring heights of the top face under the measuring units, a step to detect a position marker at a prescribed position in a prescribed section using a reference position detecting means and a step to make the irregularities measuring position coincide with the measuring position of the movement distance along the pair of left and right rails.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
