PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily identify a building area that is required for registration applications from an architectural design drawing.;SOLUTION: According to a first embodiment, an apparatus for creating a condominium unit area detects, from an architectural design drawing, a core line indicating the base line of a building and one pair of wall lines indicating the walls of the same, and thereafter identifies and traces one wall line indicating a condominium unit area of the building as an area wall line. Then, at the endpoint of the tracing area wall line, it determines, using the core line and the wall lines, an area wall line to be traced subsequently. Furthermore, when the endpoint of the tracing area wall line and the determined area wall line are apart from one another, it compensates the missing area wall line from the endpoint to the determined area wall line. The condominium unit area is created based on the determined area wall line and the compensated area wall line. According to a second embodiment, it detects, from an architectural design drawing, a core line indicating the base line of a building and wall lines indicating the walls of the same, and thereafter identifies and traces one wall line facing exterior indicating the building area as an area wall line.
