PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of improving road gradient calculation accuracy.SOLUTION: A road gradient acquisition system comprises: an object position acquisition section to acquire an object position of an object for which a gradient is calculated; a bifurcation determination section to determine whether or not a bifurcation, where a plurality of connecting roads are connected to an object road which includes the object position, exists within a predetermined distance from the object position; a reference road acquisition section which selects the connection road having a gradient closest to an estimated gradient of the object road as a reference road when the bifurcation exists or the object road as the reference road when the bifurcation does not exist; a reference position acquisition section to acquire reference positions, on the reference road, a predetermined distance forward and backward from the object position; and a gradient acquisition section to acquire a gradient of the object position on the basis of elevations of the reference points.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
