PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material having a giant effective spin-orbit interaction and expressing a stable topological state, as compared with conventionally proposed materials.SOLUTION: A Kekule super structure is introduced into transition energy of electrons on a honeycomb lattice, atoms being arranged in a honeycomb-like form in the honeycomb lattice. Electron transition energy tinside a six-membered ring of the Kekule super structure is made to be smaller than the electron transition energy tbetween the six-membered ring and a six-membered ring most adjacent thereto. Thus, a giant effective spin-orbit interaction is caused, and a stable topological state is expressed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
