Provided are alumina having excellent electrolyte stability, a slurry containing the same, and a method of manufacturing an alumina porous film, a laminated separator, a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery and a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery using the same. The first aspect of the present invention contains 200 to 50000 mass ppm in total of one or more selected from the group consisting of K, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and La, and the surface of the one or more elements. Alumina is provided wherein the concentration is 0.5 to 20 at% in total. In the second aspect of the present invention, in the infrared absorption spectrum obtained by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, a line connecting the intensities at 3400 cm ⁻¹ and 3500 cm ⁻¹ is used as a baseline, and the intensity is higher than the baseline it is large, and the peak half value width is 90cm ^-1 or less, to provide free alumina in the range of 3400~3500cm ^-1.
