Tubular devices are commonly used in medicine, such as drains, probes or cell growth supports to obtain or regenerate tissues. This invention is a method for obtaining bioabsorbable tubular structures based on gelatin-chitosan blends from which dimensional control of the end products is possible. Such products are polymeric biomaterials from renewable natural sources with relevant biological properties. The procedures allow the production of three types of tubes: one rigid and highly hygroscopic, which becomes flexible when absorbing moisture; an elastomeric flexible and stable at room temperature; and one of lamellar spongy internal structure and rough surface.
