The present invention is related to a computer -implemented method to generate a field development plan (fdp) optimal for the exploration of oil and gas reservoirs when the available reservoir data are limited. The method generates a tree from a root node,In which each knot represents a decision or an observation of the field. Tree generation comprises a specific way of combining a search and distribution process to explore paths by providing candidates for development plansField input (fdp) and add new nodes to the tree. The method drastically reduces the computational cost by providing an affordable way to estimate a optimal field development plan (fdp) before performing the exploration of the reservoir.
