The present disclosure is related to an apparatus and method for providing identification and authentication of a banknote by means of twelve values that are optimally obtained by the Monte Carlo method for white light and for ultraviolet light. Includes a low-resolution digital camera, an incandescent light source and an Ultraviolet light source, as well as a chassis that serves as an exterior light insulator and mechanical support between the elements. The method is based on the calculation of the first two statistical moments (mean and variance) with respect to the Monte Carlo method of each matrix for each of the colors in the RGB technology in the image of the banknote to be analyzed. This technology is feasible to be used to identify bills with the technology that considers ultraviolet light reflection in some areas of the banknotes. Moreover, it is assumed that each banknote has a different color, as in the case of the Mexican banknote family. The approximate level of success is: for every 100 notes of a given denomination that have been analyzed, the level of error will be around of only two banknotes. It is also necessary to remember that fluorescent surfaces have the ability to change the frequency of ultraviolet light that affects them.
