The present invention refers to the use of thiazolidinedione derivatives (TZD) for the manufacture of products intended to promote the body fat deposition in livestock species such as bovine, ovine, caprine, porcine, equine and poultry. The TZD may be administered in solid or liquid form, orally or parenterally in presentations such as injections, implants, patches, pour on. The use of TDZ benefits the livestock producers in general, since all animals, regardless of the specie (bovine, ovine, caprine, porcine, equine, poultry), breed, product (meat, milk), type of exploitation i.e., confinement or shepherding, will provide food with improved organoleptic characteristics, and therefore more acceptable by the consumer.
