The method of increasing the accuracy of the measurement of the atmospheric precipitation by means of a rectangular rainfall, whereby the resulting fluid volume measurement is corrected using the results of the previous rainfall calibration measurements, where, during calibration measurements, time is measured between successive overflows of the escape duct and the corresponding volume of fluid flown, and time between successive overflows of the escape duct is measured during the measurement of the atmospheric precipitation, and the corrected volume of liquid is calculated on the basis of calibration measurements.
