The invention relates to a structure for consolidation and/or protection of an enclosure against catastrophic risks and to a process for consolidating a building having at least one enclosure using such structure. According to the invention, the structure comprises a plurality of metal profiles (3), in a plane parallel to each wall (P) of the enclosure (2), the walls (P) defining the useful volume of the enclosure, each profile (3) being placed at a preset distance (d1) from the adjacent profiles (3) in the same plane and at a preset distance (d2) from each wall (P) of the enclosure (2) located in the close vicinity of the profile (3), and a plurality of metal segments (5) the dimensions of which are equal to the above-mentioned preset distance (d1), each such segment (5) being fixed between the pairs of profiles (3), a plurality of reinforcing means (4) strengthening a continuous joint made along the perimeter of the contact surface between the profile (3) and another profile (3) or segment, the middle being located and fixed in an internal angle of a node defined by the crossing of the profiles (3) or of a profile (3) and a segment (5), so that the plurality of profiles (3), the plurality of segments (5) and the plurality of means (4) form a cage-shaped internal mechanical structure. The process, as claimed, includes, as a first stage, the positioning of a plurality of profiles (3) in a plane parallel to each wall (P) of the enclosure (2), these walls (P) defining the useful volume of the enclosure (2), each profile being placed at a distance (d1) from the profiles (3) and at a distance (d2) from each wall (P) of the enclosure (2) located in the close vicinity of the profile (3), after which a segment (5), the dimension of which is equal to the distance (d1), is fixed between each pair of profiles (3), and, further on, a continuous joint is made between a profile (3) and another profile or a segment.
