The invention relates to an apparatus meant for teaching and improving start in swimmers, either beginners or advanced. According to the invention, the apparatus comprises two parts, a first part which ensures the vertical motion and consists of a graduated duraluminium rod (1) on which an adjustable rectangular support (2) is mounted, which is manually moved and on which a carbon-fibre pipe (6) sheathed with a protective material (18), such as rubber, is fixed by means of a resilient system, and a second part for horizontal motion which is ensured by manually pushing the graduated rod (1) together with the support (2) adjustable by a bush (7) rigidly fixed to the rod (1) along a squared pipe (8) which has the left end bent and fixed onto the floor of a swimming pool by means of a plate (14) and the right end supported by a bearing consisting of two pieces (9 and 10), the two ends of the pipe (8) being fixed onto the swimming pool floor by a system comprising a screw (11), a washer (12) and a nut (13).
