The invention relates to a process for selective oxidation of p-cymene from renewable sources. According to the invention, the process consists in that, over 6...10 mmole of p-cymene, there are added, by dropping, 0.025...0.05 ml/min of oxidating agent, such as HOor molecular Oor air, at pressures of 8...40 at, in the presence of 50...100 mg of manganese-cobalt or iron-cobalt mixed oxides and of solvents, such as acetic acid, water, acetone or combinations thereof, in a ratio of 50:50 by volume, in a stainless steel oven having a volume of 15...50 ml, at temperatures of 80...150°C, while stirring continuously, to result in a p-cymene conversion of 93...99.9% with a selectivity of 60...90% in p-toluic acid and up to 10% terephthalic acid.
