Described herein is a method for selecting a command (F) by means of a graphic interface. The method provides a screenful to be represented on a display, wherein the screenful comprises a cursor and a plurality of areas, wherein associated to each area is a respective command (F), and wherein a command (F) is selected by displacing the cursor into the area associated to the respective command. In particular, a user may supply data that identify a requested position (X,Y) of the cursor by means of one or more input devices (I). During a training step, the method records one or more non-assisted trajectories for each command, wherein each non-assisted trajectory is made up of a sequence of a given number of requested positions (X,Y). During a personalisation step, the method processes the non-assisted trajectories for training a classifier, such as an artificial neural network, configured for estimating a target command ( F̂ ) as a function of a sequence of positions. During an operating step, the method then assists (1022) the user during displacement of the cursor. For this purpose, the method estimates (1014), by means of the classifier, a target command ( F̂ ), and then estimates (1020) a sequence of a given number of future values (v, ω) of the movement of the cursor. In particular, the estimation procedure (1020) comprises optimisation, for example by means of MPC (Model Predictive Control), of a cost function determined as a function o the estimated target function.
