A method for identifying a company as the subject of a news report, the method comprising steps of: performing, by means of a predetermined training model, iterative training on collected training samples, and extracting feature information of the training samples (S31); acquiring a news document to undergo prediction, identifying a company name in the news document to undergo prediction, and calculating, according to the extracted feature information of the training samples, a probability that the news document to undergo prediction is a first type of news and a probability that the news document to undergo prediction is a second type of news, respectively (S32); and determining, according to values of the calculated probabilities of the news document being the first type of news or the second type of news, whether the identified company name in the news document to undergo prediction is a first company name type or a second company name type (S33). The present invention can improve the accuracy of identifying a company as the subject of a news report.
