The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for evaluating effects of a candidate substance on bioactivity through measurement of cellular activity over time. The present invention for accomplishing this purpose provides a method for evaluating effects of a candidate substance on bioactivity. A method according to the present invention comprises: a step for administering the candidate substance to living cells that have taken up biodegradable particles that contain a signal substance, and a step, carried out from before to after the administration step, of detecting a signal from the signal substance over time.
