The invention relates to an apparatus for separating off sediments from liquids, in particular to a hydrodynamic solids separator, having a flow tank (10) with a feed line (12) for contaminated liquid and with a discharging line (13) for cleaned liquid. The flow tank (10) has an inner tank (11) with an outer surface (11a), along which a fed liquid can be channelled tangentially out of the feed line (12) in the direction of a base (19) of the flow tank (10). Within the inner tank (11), the liquid can be channelled in an opposite direction, in the direction of the discharging line (13). The flow tank (10) also has at least one flow element containing at least two apertures (15), said flow element being arranged on an underside of the inner tank (11) such that the liquid can be channelled in the direction of the base (19) of the flow tank (10). It is possible to realize at least two different flow speeds and/or types of flow for the liquid. The invention also relates to a cleaning device and to a method for separating off sediments.
