The invention relates to integrated systems and methods for planning the layout of oil fields. In the claimed method, initial data is generated, well stream gathering centres are placed on a map of well pads according to a specific algorithm, and the placement of the gathering centres is optimized by successively applying local optimization and global optimization. A network of communication corridors connecting the gathering centres and the well pads is then formed, wherein a plan of a primary network of communication corridors that includes pipelines is created, then said primary network is globally and locally optimized.
