The present invention provides: a water-based temporary adhesive agent which comprises a thermoplastic resin having at least (A) a hydroxyl group and has both excellent temporary adhesion performance, excellent application performance, and excellent crawling prevention performance; a water-based temporary adhesive agent which has function deterioration suppressing performance of various members and components which are used in optical devices, electronic devices, and the like; a water-based temporary adhesive agent which, together with excellent temporary adhesion performance, has excellent application performance and excellent safety performance, and puts a low load on the environment; and a method for manufacturing a member or a component using the water-based temporary adhesive agent.
