- A New Synthetic Strategy for Manipulating Various Forms of Metal-Organic Frameworks

Self-assembly proved to be a highly successful synthesis technique for a metal-organic material (MOM), a recently emerging class of porous materials consisting of functional materials, especially metal-organic frameworks (MOF) and metal- . However, in MOM synthesis, there are areas where self-assembly is not fully utilized, such as controlling the inner surface of MOM crystals. The present invention provides a sequential self-assembly technique for synthesizing various types of MOM crystals, including dual-shell hollow MOMs, based on single-crystal vs. single-crystal conversion from MOP to MOF. In addition, the synthetic techniques of the present invention exhibit morphological evolution in MOM by making other forms such as solids, core-shells, double and triple martensiticas, and single-shell hollow MOMs. The synthetic techniques of the present invention will open new directions for the development of various forms of MOM in advanced areas such as targeted sequential drug delivery / release and heterogeneous chain catalysis in the foreseeable future.
