The present invention provides an apparatus for realizing visible light communication (VLC) and wireless network communication in a dual mode and a method of the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for VLC includes: a wireless network communication unit including a fixed identifier and performing communication based on a wireless protocol; a visible light transmission unit transmitting the fixed identifier in accordance with a VLC protocol; and a control unit controlling the wireless network communication unit to transmit the fixed identifier selectively in accordance with the VLC protocol based on a state in which the wireless network communication unit is connected with the wireless network.
