In the method according to the invention, the preincubated eggs in the developing limb (1) are transferred to the poultry nursery in this developing limb (1). Within the poultry farm, a layer of insulating covering material (3) is provided at the bottom of the poultry farm, in one or more strips. The covering material 3 comprises in particular straw applied in a layer thickness of at least 2 cm. The set of egg pick-up elements 9 of the transporting machine 4 allows the pre-incubated eggs to be removed from the developing limb 1 in the poultry kennel after which the eggs are transported by the transport machine 4 to the covering material (3). In this way, eggs can be efficiently placed in poultry farms and a large incubation rate with minimal egg damage risk is guaranteed.
