The present invention relates to an extendable block chain system for generating a block chain that verifies and records a transaction in a network including a plurality of nodes, and a block extension method. The extendable block chain system comprises: a plurality of sub-networks generated by dividing the network and the nodes on the basis of a predetermined reference; and a bridge unit for enabling the nodes included in the sub-networks to transmit a transaction for a trade within the corresponding sub-networks or between other sub-networks by connecting the sub-networks with each other, wherein each of the sub-networks generates a sub-block for recording at least a part of transactions and transaction related data generated between the nodes, and a sub-block chain connected with the sub-block, and a sub-block and a sub-block chain belonging to one sub-network are connected to another sub-block and another sub-block chain belonging to another sub-network through the bridge unit so as to be shared by at least a part of the nodes as a single block with capacity increased in proportion to the number of sub-blocks connected and as a main block chain connected with the single block.
