According to the present invention, in a method for controlling an LNT to reduce NO_x emission during DPF regeneration, during DPF regeneration having a DPF regeneration mode entering step, a heat up mode step, and a DPF regeneration mode step, an LNT rich mode is added between the heat up mode step and the DPF regeneration mode step. According to the present invention, in the method for controlling an LNT to reduce NO_x emission during DPF regeneration and an LNT apparatus, based on an amount of NO_x in the LNT and a vehicle driving condition, the LNT rich mode is additionally performed before entering DPF regeneration. Therefore, the NO_x occluded in the LNT is removed to reduce an amount of NO_x discharged during the DPF regeneration.
