The present invention relates to a Setaria yellow dwarf virus (SeYDV) gene consisting of a base sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, a recombinant vector including the SeYDV gene, and a host cell transformed with the recombinant vector, a composition for diagnosing an SeYDV, and a diagnosis method. According to the present invention, since it is possible to diagnose infection of the SeYDV by using the SeYDV gene, it is possible to monitor or perform examination on conditions of occurrence of virus diseases in domestic crops or plants including foxtail millet cultivated in Korea, thereby predicting occurrence of diseases and understanding a current damage situation. Also, it is possible to contribute to promotion of SeYDV gene resistant varieties through screening.
