According to one embodiment of the present invention, a water jet propulsion device for a ship includes: a propulsion unit including an impeller rotated by rotational force of an engine and a nozzle discharging water introduced by the impeller; a steering unit mounted on the back of the propulsion unit and controlling the discharge direction of the water; and a direction switch unit mounted on the back of the steering unit and controlling the discharge direction of the water discharged through the steering unit to switch the moving direction of the ship, wherein the direction switch unit can include at least one curved surface flow path discharging the water discharged through the steering unit.
