The present invention relates to an image-based construction site situation recognition system, a method thereof, and an earthwork productivity analysis method using the same. The construction site situation recognition system uses a camera to photograph a construction site to detect construction equipment in operation, and distinguishes and analyzes event information and work state information for the construction equipment at the construction site to calculate earthwork time. The construction site situation recognition system comprises a camera unit and a construction site management server. The camera unit and the construction site management server are connected to each other via a communication network to allow data communication. According to the present invention, a work situation for construction equipment at a construction site can be recognized based on an image to automatically analyze productivity for each construction equipment combination in earthwork at the construction site. Therefore, manpower and costs for earthwork productivity analysis can be reduced.
