The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating diseases related to female hormone deficiency containing a Gentiana lutea extract or a compound isolated therefrom as an active component. In an embodiment of the present invention, the Gentiana lutea extract and the compound promote estradiol secretion of cells, and especially an effect of the compound is superior to the Gentiana lutea extract. Therefore, the Gentiana lutea extract or the compound isolated therefrom can be usefully used as a pharmaceutical composition or a health functional food composition for preventing, alleviating, or treating female hormone deficiency diseases, especially diseases such as estrogen deficiency.
