The present invention relates to a multi-input multi-output (MIMO)-OFDM based inter-cell cooperative communication system and a cooperative communication method using the same. According to the present invention, an inter-cell cooperative communication method in a heterogenous network including a macro cell having who antennas and a small cell comprises: a step in which a first small base station in a first small cell receives a channel state with a macro base station and a channel state with a second small base station from a mobile terminal, and checks a phase relation between a location of the mobile terminal and each channel; a step in which the mobile terminal transmits a first signal in cooperation with the macro base station when located at a boundary between the first and second small cells; a step in which the mobile terminal receives a signal through first and second antennas thereof, wherein the mobile terminal receives a first signal from two antennas of the macro base station and two antennas of the first small base station and receives a second signal from two antennas of the second small base station; and a step which detects the first signal from a reception signal vector by the first and second antennas. Moreover, according to the present invention, the method can mitigate effect of inter-cell interference and can improve reliability of a mobile terminal located at a cell boundary by applying a coordinate multi-point (CoMP) technique, in which base stations cooperate with each other in a heterogenous network (HetNet) system, a precoding technique which reduces a channel coefficient of an interference signal while increasing a channel coefficient of a desired signal, and a MIMO detection technique with excellent signal detection performance.
