First reacting one equivalent of methane with oxygen from air to produce carbon dioxide and water in a 1: 2 molar ratio in complete combustion; Performing a double reforming process with a mixture of methane: carbon dioxide: water having a ratio of 3: 1: 2 to produce a methane gas which is a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide having a molar ratio of 2: 1 to 2.1: 1; (Methane) source from a natural (shale) gas by ultimately converting the methane gas to methanol exclusively. The methanol thus prepared can be dehydrated to form dimethyl ether, and the resulting water is recycled to the double reforming process if necessary.
