ROI VR VR content streaming server and method based on ROI information

Disclosed are a server and a method for streaming VR content based on a region of interest (ROI) which shorten streaming delay time. The streaming server comprises: a communication unit to receive a request signal for a media presentation description (MPD) file for segments of a divided image, ROI information, and a request signal for a segment file from an electronic device, and transmit a MPD file and a segment file corresponding to the request signal to the electronic device; and a control unit to control to transmit an MPD file corresponding to a request signal to the electronic device if the request signal for the MPD file is received, generate and cache a segment file giving a first resolution and a second to an n^th resolution (n is a natural number higher than or equal to 2) lower than the first resolution to each segment of the divided image based on the ROI information if the ROI information is received, and control to transmit the cached segment file to the electronic device if a request signal for the segment file is received.
