The present invention relates to an apparatus for analyzing heart rate variability and a method for detecting heart rate variability using the same. The apparatus for analyzing heart rate variability according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a converter, an R-peak detector, a frequency converter, and a heart rate variance analyzer. The converter converts the analog ECG signal into a digital ECG signal. The R-peak detector receives the digital electrocardiogram signal to detect the R-peak value, and generates an RR interval time series signal based on the R-peak value. The frequency converter includes a frequency shifter, a low pass filter, and a fast Fourier transform. The frequency shifter extracts a signal of a target frequency band from an RR interval time series signal to generate a target frequency signal. The heart rate variance analyzer generates a heart rate variance signal based on the target frequency signal. According to the embodiment of the present invention, the frequency domain of the heart rate variability may be analyzed precisely.
