Opportunity resource migration for resource placement optimization

Distributed systems can implement opportunistic resource migration to optimize resource placement. Resources can be placed between different resource hosts in a distributed system. Evaluation of the current deployment may be performed according to deployment criteria that improves the deployment of resources in distributed systems. Based on the assessment, future migration of resources that exceed the improvement threshold may be identified as candidate resources to migrate. Migration to candidate resources can be performed opportunistically. In some embodiments, priority is assigned to candidate resources and thus candidate resources are selected to perform the migration.
