Ytterbium-176 oxide from an ytterbium-containing concentrate production method includes the concentrate decomposition with hydrochloric acid, the concentrate processing in three stages, wherein at all three stages, precipitating the ytterbium-176 oxalate from the acidic medium in the presence of oxalic acid, separating the precipitate, washing and calcinating it to oxide; at the second stage, performing the heavy metals preliminary separation in the form of sulfides, at that, at the first stage, from the hydrochloric acid solution performing the ytterbium-176 hydroxide threefold precipitation with ammonia at pH 14, heavy metals in the form of sulfides separation in the second stage is carried out at a temperature of 60 °C, pH 3.5 and the solution concentration of 20 g/l by ytterbium-176, and the ytterbium oxalate precipitation at all stages is carried out in the presence of tartaric and oxalic acids from the solution with concentration of 2 g/l by ytterbium-176 and the oxalic acid excess concentration of 0.1–0.2 N. Proposed technical solution allows to allocate 99.10 % of isotope-enriched ytterbium-176 in the form of oxide with a purity of 99.99 %, which satisfies the customers specification, using the high-purity ytterbium-176 as the radiopharmaceuticals production basis. Resulting ytterbium-176 oxide contains the minimum amount of impurities (boron, barium, bismuth, cadmium, cobalt, copper, iron, gallium, manganese, nickel, zinc, chromium, aluminum, lead) – in the total amount of not more than 0.1 wt. %, which corresponds to the high degree of purity of ytterbium-176.;EFFECT: technical result: the developed ytterbium-176 oxide production method ensures complete separation of impurities in accordance with the specified requirements.;1 cl, 11 dwg
