METHOD OF CORRECTION OF OXIDATIVE STRESS IN LEBER'S HEREDITARY OPTIC NEUROPATHY

FIELD: medicine.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, specifically to ophthalmology, and is intended for correction of oxidative stress in Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON). In patient's blood serum with LHON content of folic acid is determined. If the level falls below or at the boundary of the lower reference value on the background of orally administered idebenone orally in two steps, folic acid is administered in a daily dose of 10 mg in combination with vitamin B₁₂ in a daily dose of 12 mcg for a period sufficient to reach folic acid level in blood serum of not less than 10 ng/ml. Blood serum content of the folic acid is repeated and maintained at a level of not less than 10 ng/ml.;EFFECT: use of the invention improves the clinical outcome with increasing vision functions in the patients with LHON, as well as detecting presence and correcting metabolic disorders in offspring of proband before clinical manifestations of disease.;1 cl, 1 dwg, 1 ex
