The invention relates to a method and a device for diagnosing a particle filter arranged in the exhaust gas tract of a gasoline engine operated with direct fuel injection. The method comprises the following steps: measurement of the pressure by means of a first pressure sensor arranged in front of the particle filter, measurement of the pressure by means of a second pressure sensor arranged behind the particle filter, determination of the loading state of the particle filter and / or the presence of the particle filter by an evaluation the pressure signals measured by the two pressure sensors, whereby in this evaluation the signal curves of the pressure signals measured by the two pressure sensors during a crankshaft segment are taken into account.
