The present invention relates to a latch insert for installation in a strike plate of a door for conditional release of a latch of a door lock mechanism. The latch insert comprises a mounting assembly for mounting the latch insert on a strike plate of a door and a counter-latch which is pivotally mounted by the mounting assembly between a locking position and a conditional release position about an axis oriented parallel to the pivot axis of the door, by a predetermined maximum angle. In this case, the counter-latch has a contact surface which is suitable for engaging the latch in the state in which the latch insert is mounted on a strike plate in the locked position in order to hold the door in its closed position. The maximum angle is set so that the contact surface of the counter-latch in the conditional release point against the blocking position is pivoted so far that the contact surface is adapted to reach in the assembled state of the case insert in the conditional release position with the latch in abutment.
