The purpose of the present invention is to provide a sintered magnet containing Sm-Fe-N-based crystal grains and having high coercivity; and a magnetic powder capable of forming a sintered magnet without thereby reducing the coercivity even when heat is generated in connection with the sintering. A sintered magnet having a crystal phase formed of a plurality of Sm-Fe-N based crystal grains and a non-magnetic metal phase coexisting between the SM-Fe-N based crystal grains, wherein Peak intensity I Fe to SmFeN peak intensity I SmFeN , measured by an X-ray diffraction analysis method, is 0.2 or less. A magnetic powder having Sm-Fe-N-based crystal particles and a non-magnetic metal layer covering surfaces of the Sm-Fe-N crystal particles.
