The invention relates to a device (100) for treating a compound which includes a space (101) for treating the compound, a photocatalyst element (102) having an outer surface (103) which at least partially defines the treatment space (101), and an activation element (104) associated with the photocatalyst element (102) such as to generate, under the effect of electromagnetic radiation having a predetermined wavelength, a plasmon propagating in said photocatalyst element (102). The photocatalyst element (102) is inserted between the activation element (104) and the treatment space (101). Moreover, the treatment device comprises a system (107a, 107b) for generating a plasma (108) in the treatment space (101) at least at the outer surface (103) of the photocatalyst element (102).
