To provide an improved method, a non-temporary computer-readable medium, and an apparatus, for automatically quantifying space within the container using a scanning sensor node disposed within the container and exposed to scan the space from above the space within the container.SOLUTION: The improved method includes a step of detecting a start condition from within the container using an activation sensor in the scanning sensor node. Expected changes at least within the container (opening of the container, moving, stopped moving, loading/unloading operations, or closing of the container) are reflected to the starting condition. In response to detecting of the start condition using the activation sensor, a scanning snapshot of the space within the container is captured from above the space within the container using the scanning sensor node, and the scanning snapshot is stored in a memory of the scanning sensor node.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3D
