To provide a method for investigating the compressive strength of natural ground, which enables accurate investigation of the strength of natural ground in front of a cutting face.SOLUTION: Correlation data between the pulsation amplitude of the normalized damping pressure and the compressive strength of a plurality of test bodies different from each other is obtained in advance, and the pulsation amplitude of the damping pressure measured when the natural ground is hit with a rock drill is divided by the hitting pressure to normalize so as to refer to the correlation data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 18
