To provide novel fluorine-containing pentacene and naphthalocyanine compounds having various structural formulas and properties, and methods for producing them with ease and in high yield, and an organic thin film transistor, a solar cell, an electrophotographic photoreceptor and a method for producing an organic light emitting element each of which uses the novel compounds.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a fluorine-containing polycyclic aromatic compound in which at least one of aromatic groups at both terminals of a tricyclic or more conjugated polycyclic aromatic group is nuclear-substituted with a perfluoroalkyl group, and a production method characterized by using a reaction intermediate of the compound of the following formula [where X1-2, Y1-2, Z1-2 are specific groups].SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
