PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of diagnosing liver cirrhosis, a method of diagnosing complications between non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and hepatocellular cancer, a method of diagnosing complications between non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and esophagogastric varices, or a method of determining severity of liver fibrosis.;SOLUTION: It was discovered that AKR1B10 obtained from gene expression analysis is useful in diagnosing serological liver cirrhosis and complications of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, and in evaluating progression of liver fibrosis. It was further discovered that a combination of AKR1B10 and M2BPGi is useful in predicting NASH complications and evaluating progression of liver fibrosis.
