To provide an active energy ray-curable lithographic printing ink capable of achieving both print film adaptability such as curability, glossiness, adhesiveness, solvent resistance and friction resistance and printing adaptability such as initial density stability, and a printed matter using the above ink.SOLUTION: A rosin-modified resin for an active energy ray-curable lithographic printing ink is provided, which is a reaction product of: a reaction mixture of rosin acids comprising a conjugate rosin acid (A) and an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride (B); an organic monobasic acid (C) excluding the conjugate rosin acid (A); an alicyclic polybasic acid (D); and a polyol (E). The rosin-modified resin contains the conjugate rosin acid (A) by 10 mass% or more based on the whole compounded amounts and the rosin acids including the conjugate rosin acid (A) by 40 mass% or less based on the whole compounded amounts. The polyol (E) comprises a difunctional polyol (E1) and a tri-functional or higher-functional polyol (E2).SELECTED DRAWING: None
